CEI - Transportation Technician IV

Summit Design and Engineering Services is recruiting for CEI – Transportation Technicians IV with NCDOT Roadway/Structure experience to work on a major highway construction project located in Charlotte/Matthews/Monroe area (NCDOT Division 10).  The project is anticipated to last approximately 3-1/2 years.

**We are planning to conduct interviews for this position the week of April 13^th.  Preference will be given to qualified candidates that apply on or before April 10^th. 

Responsibilities:

• Independently conduct moderate to complex inspection or survey party work for roadway and structure construction process and material to assure compliance with contract agreements, standards and specifications
• Complete daily dairies, sample cards asphalt report, NPDES reports, material received forms, survey note and monthly estimates 
• Perform a variety of inspection and survey duties for erosion control, material sampling and testing, earthwork, asphalt, structures and traffic control
• Document findings and takes corrective actions as needed
• Clearly and concisely convey information orally or in writing to individual or groups

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry and ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments
• Knowledge of roadway, materials, standards and specifications
• Proficient in the use of IPads, Microsoft Office, email and Internet
• Ability to work independently, use own judgment and make decisions
• Good written and verbal communication skills

 Must be certified in: 

• NCDOT/ACI Concrete Field Testing
• NCDOT QMS Roadway
• NCDOT Level II Erosion Control
• Any other NCDOT Certifications are recommended, but not required.

Candidates will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including hazards at highway construction sites.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.  Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.  Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights. 

Must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.   Criminal background check will be performed.
