CEI SURVEY PARTY CHIEF

Summit Design and Engineering Services has an immediate opening for a SURVEY PARTY CHIEF to work for our Construction Engineering Inspection department in the Greensboro areas.  The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years' experience in all types of surveys, including, construction staking, as-builts, layout verification, and any NCDOT experience is a plus.

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Performs all types of surveys, including, but not limited to, construction staking, as-builts, construction layout verification.
• Plans and coordinates the efforts of the survey crew and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently
• Responsible for survey computations, data collection, and construction layout of roadways
• Trains lower level techs in the use of survey equipment, survey methods and safety standards.
• Ensures accuracy and production of survey crew
• Assists with duties of survey technicians as needed
• Communicates with other techs as well as owners and contractors
• Ensures that survey equipment is correctly operated and maintained

Requirements: 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GPS, RTK, VRS and robotic survey experience
• CAD and/or Microstation capability is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Ability to read maps
• Ability to make field decision and calculations
• Ability to develop job strategy and exercise quality control
• Detailed oriented
• Reliability, excellent communication and leadership skills

Other physical requirements include:  ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; ability to walk over rough and uneven terrain carrying equipment; ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places; ability to work overhead; and ability to work outside in various types of weather conditions.

Must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.   Criminal background check will be performed.
