CIVIL ENGINEER FOR LAND DEVELOPMENT

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking Civil Engineers to work in our Land Development Department in one of our Triangle offices. The ideal candidates should have 3 to 5 years' experience and be a licensed. He/she should be experienced in residential/commercial land development and land planning.  The Civil Engineer will work with Civil Designers and CAD technicians on a team led by a Project Manager. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the project conforms to the commitments Summit has made to the client, and that the project is completed within the schedule and budget assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Plans, develops, and coordinates projects with limited supervision
• Reviews and/or participate in preparing proposals as assigned by the Project Manager
• Works with PM to budget costs and time schedules for proposed work
• Assists in assigning duties and schedules to team members
• Checks all technical work for accuracy
• Maintains client relationships by collaboration and problem solving
• Recommends changes to client as required and as approved by the Project Manager
• Follows QA/QC procedures
• Fully permit and ensure entitlements of projects
• Function as a liaison between the Project Manager and the CAD technician assigned to project team to ensure all responsibilities of the design are carried out and that time is spent efficiently and effectively
• Assists in review and processing of invoices for projects and review of sub-consultant invoices

Qualifications:

• BSCE with Professional License (PE)
• 3 to 5+ years of experience on various site design projects including retail, commercial, and public sector projects, with experience in residential layouts, planning and engineering
• Specific design experience required with site layout, grading, storm drainage, storm water management, utilities, and erosion control
• Familiarity with entitlement processes and local permitting regulations
• Experience with technical software including AutoCad Civil 3D 2015, Hydraflow StormSewers/Hydrographs/Express Extensions, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, and Microsoft Excel is preferred
• Strong ability to communicate in a professional manner
• Effective collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently as well as be a team player
