CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP

Summit Design and Engineering Services is looking for a bright, talented intern who wants to gain broad exposure to various civil engineering fields.  The intern will have an opportunity to work within various departments (Geotechnical, Construction Materials Testing, Construction Management and Inspection).  This internship is ideal for someone who is still searching for their area of emphasis or who wants to gain a diverse civil engineering work experience.  The Internship would last from approximately May 15th through August 15, 2018.  We are looking for someone to work 40 hours per week.  This is a paid internship.

Our Intern will work on a variety of projects and have an opportunity to attend meetings and site visits with engineers and clients.  Interns will gain hands-on experience and exposure to day-to-day responsibilities of engineers.  You must be willing to work out of our Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Durham or Raleigh offices.

Requirements:

• Actively seeking a degree in Civil Engineering
• Knowledge of and ability to apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of civil engineering to projects
• Ability to perform basic calculations
• Must be able to understand and follow written project specifications
• A strong work ethic and desire to learn and apply engineering training
• Organized and detail oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
