Construction Manager

Summit Design and Engineering Services, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking a full-time Construction Manager.  The successful candidate will function as the lead field and construction manager on a wide variety of challenging and diverse projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing plans for constructability, bidding out project scopes to general contractors and subcontractors, managing and reporting on contractor progress, interfacing with municipal inspectors and utility companies and managing site compliance.

This position can be based in our Pittsboro or Hillsborough office.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate effectively with individuals and organizations internally and within the project team.
• Review plans for constructability.
• Identify general contractors and subcontractors to complete required scopes of work.
• Collect, review and analyze bids for required scopes of work.
• Manage and report on contractor progress in the field for project scopes.
• Interface with municipal inspectors and utility company representatives in the field.
• Manage construction quality of activities in the field and hold contractors accountable to design.
• Manage overall site compliance, including, but not limited to, erosion control management, traffic control and construction safety.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing residential and commercial construction projects.
• Proficiency using MS Project and/or Primavera P6
• Proven success in managing contractor relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Ability to empower, delegate and collaborate effectively.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in construction management or civil engineering
