DESIGN TECHNICIAN

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeing a Design Technician to become part of our Infrastructure Department located in our Raleigh office.  The Design Technician will work or projects involving roadway/highway design, municipal streets and pedestrian facilities (greenways, multi-use trails). 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications and material quantities
• Read and review project blueprints
• Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and ensure conformance to specifications
• Assist engineer by collecting and interpreting data, researching ideas, drafting and revising reports, processing complex functions and equations and creating cost estimates

Qualifications:

• AA in Engineering or 2-3 years progressive engineering design experience
• Experience with NCDOT design standards and practices is preferred.
• Proficient with Microstation/GeoPak
• Proficient with Corridor Modeling
• Ability to process complex mathematical equations
• Ability to read blueprints
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on a team or individually
