DESIGN TECHNICIAN

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Design Technician to become part of our ITS/Signals System group located in our Raleigh office. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications and material quantities
• Read and review project plans
• Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and ensure conformance to specifications
• Assist engineer by collecting and interpreting data, researching ideas, drafting and revising reports, processing complex functions and equations and creating cost estimates
• Prepare base maps from digital files
• Field work and occasional overnight travel will be required

Qualifications:

• AAS in Engineering or 2-3 years progressive engineering design experience
• Experience with NCDOT ITS & Signals Unit design standards and practices is preferred
• Proficient with Microstation/GeoPak
• Ability to process complex mathematical equations
• Ability to read and interpret roadway plans
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on a team or individually
