ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to work with our team in our Raleigh or Hillsborough office. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have excellent leadership and project management abilities.

Primary Responsibilities:   

• Preparation of construction documents (drawings, specifications, and reports) for building electrical design including power, lighting, fire alarm and communications as well as special systems (A/V, PA, security, television, etc.)
• Develop equipment and device layouts, circuiting, one-line diagrams and specifications
• Designs must meet appropriate design standards, project & client requirements and all applicable codes (NEC, IBC, etc.)
• Perform field investigations, product research and code analysis
• Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems
• Close coordination with the Client and the entire design team including owners, architects, contractors, members of other disciplines, and internal support staff to ensure the design is consistent with what the Client has envisioned, to ensure a fully coordinated inter-disciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained
• Work closely with equipment vendors and manufacturers' representatives for selection and specification of appropriate equipment
• Conduct project meetings with clients and co-workers
• Construction Administration
• Assist in the development of proposals for new projects including definition of the project scope, budget estimates, and design schedules  

Qualifications: 

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or BS in Architectural Engineering with an Electrical Emphasis
• PE licensure
• LEED certification is a plus
• 7+ years of experience in the design of electrical systems for various types of facilities, including experience with designing systems in accordance with NEC and IECC
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite
• Overall understanding of MEP Systems with thorough knowledge of Electrical Systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed
