Summit Design and Engineering is seeking an Environmental Operations Coordinator in central North Carolina to implement and assist in oversight of the environmental services team operations. This position is salaried and is eligible for our annual bonus program.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or a combination of equivalent education, knowledge and experience
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, OneDrive (and other online storage programs).
  • Ability to work independently, use own judgment, and make decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of NC and federal NPDES programs and permits.
  • Thorough knowledge of SWPPP processes.
  • Ability to review all project documents and utilize these documents to draft/assemble project specific SWPPPs.
  • Thorough knowledge of the NC Sediment Act, the NC Sediment Rules. Ability to read, understand and apply related rules, regulations and permits.
  • Proficient in the use of ArcGIS and GIS processes, or ability to obtain proficiency.
  • Ability to train inspectors on the rules, regulations, permits, plan reading and field processes.
  • Ability to draft related stormwater and erosion and sediment control inspection, review, audit and assessment standard operating procedures and contribute to implementation of these procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to marketing of the available services for the [Environmental Operations?] Team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory agency and contractor personnel and the general public.
  • Ability to read and interpret approved erosion and sediment control and stormwater plans for any type of construction project.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and the ability to apply formulas.
  • Ability to read and interpret permit requirements and contract specifications.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, audits, assessments and reviews as needed and maintain detailed electronic reports utilizing reporting software and the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to maintain and update related project documentation.
  • Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.
  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance, and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when needed
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record and ability to drive.

CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)

  • CPESC or equivalent national certification for erosion and sediment control/stormwater
  • NCDOT Level II Erosion & Sediment Control

LOCATION/STATE

  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Ability to travel statewide or regionally to support the compliance team or conduct field reviews.
