GEOTECHNICAL PROJECT ENGINEER, 2014-0044

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a mid-level Geotechnical Project Engineer to work with experienced and highly skilled professionals on a diverse scope of projects. Typical duties of a Summit Geotechnical Project Engineer include:

• Project Management: plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate various phases of geotechnical engineering work in the field and the office
• Perform geotechnical analyses of field and laboratory data, including shallow and deep foundation systems, settlement, slope stability, ground improvement techniques, lateral earth pressures and site earthwork recommendations
• Perform investigations, reporting and designs in accordance with NCDOT criteria
• Work with design software including Driven, Lpile, GRLWEAP, FoSSA, ReSSA and MSEW; as well as drafting software Microstation, GEOPAK and gINT
• Clearly communicate and effectively work with clients and other engineering disciplines during proposal preparation, and project performance, completion and follow-up
• Prepare geotechnical reports, proposals and cost estimates

Requirements:
• BS in Civil Engineering; preferred MS in geotechnical engineering
• Ability to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret and execute an extensive variety of technical instruction.
• Capability to effectively present information to peers, management and clients.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

Engineer will be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, in addition to hazards at highway construction sites, including heights, heavy equipment and highway traffic. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain when working in the field.
Candidates who live within driving distance of our Hillsborough office or willing to relocate at own expense will be given preference.
