GEOTECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER

Due to considerable growth in geotechnical transportation opportunities, Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Project Manager for our developing Indian Trail office. Position responsibilities include the management and function of lead Project Manager/Project Engineer on medium- to large-scale transportation projects including assignments from NCDOT's Limited Services Contract for Geotechnical Services; design-build projects/pursuits; Division on-call contracts; rail projects and municipal bridge projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Collaborate effectively with individuals and organizations within and outside our team.
• Maintain existing, as well as develop new transportation related geotechnical business opportunities in North Carolina and adjoining states.
• Assist Business Development Manager with marketing and business development activities as needed.
• Work with Senior Project Manager and/or Department Manager in the assignment of staff suited to meet project needs.
• Mentor and facilitate the development of the staff within the office in support of the Department Manager and corporate goals. 
• Collaborate with Senior Project Manager to develop scope of work and man-hour estimates, project planning, progress reports, invoicing and responses to SOQs, RFPs and LOIs as needed.

Qualifications:

• BS in civil/geotechnical engineering required; preferred MS in geotechnical engineering
• Professional Engineering registration in North Carolina
• Minimum of 7 years of geotechnical engineering experience; preferred in NC
• Familiarity with NCDOT practices, policies and procedures, including the GEU's Guidelines and Procedure Manual
• Perform geotechnical design services in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design

• Proven success in managing client relationships
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
