GIS Specialist

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking an experienced GIS Specialist for our Maintenance Management Department. This position will be based in either of our Hillsborough or Raleigh offices.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies, ArcGIS Pro to create, edit, analyze, and manage spatial data.
• Create, maintain, and manage GIS maps, layers, geodatabases and other related records.
• Provide a high level of customer service and GIS support to internal and external customers.
• Conduct field visits for asset collection and to ensure data accuracy, as necessary.
• Work directly with field engineers or technicians to provide accurate data.
• Work with CAD data to integrate into GIS workflows and datasets.
• Providing quality control regarding discipline specific in-house data capture (data conversion), the evaluation of data acquired from outside of the organization and database construction.
• Developing and applying GIS analysis solutions to meet other discipline specific needs.
• Serving as the GIS technical lead and point of contact on discipline specific GIS and related matters.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and three years relevant GIS experience.
• Experience using ArcGIS Pro and other GIS software.
• Experience with Python programing and other GIS scripting languages.
• Proficient in the use of iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive.
• Ability to work independently, use own judgment and make decisions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain.
• Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of roadway, structure and bridge construction methods, materials, standards, construction symbols and terminology.
