GIS Technician

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking an experienced GIS Technician for our Maintenance Management Department.  This position will be based in our Raleigh office.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies, ArcGIS Pro to create, edit, analyze, and manage spatial data.
• Create, maintain and manage GIS maps, layers, geodatabases and other related records.
• Provide a high level of customer service and GIS support to internal and external customers.
• Conduct field visits for asset collection and to ensure data accuracy, as necessary.
• Work directly with field engineers or technicians to provide accurate data.
• Work with CAD data to integrate into GIS workflows and datasets.

 Skills and Qualifications:

• Associate's degree with a minimum of five years relevant GIS experience or a Bachelor's degree and three years relevant GIS experience.
• Experience using ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD.
• Proficient in the use of iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive.
• Ability to work independently, use own judgment and make decisions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain.
• Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of roadway, structure and bridge construction methods, materials, standards, construction symbols and terminology.
