GIS/CAD Specialist

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking a GIS/CAD Specialist for our Surveying & Geomatics department. This position will be based in our Raleigh, Wilmington, or Hillsborough offices.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, such as ArcGIS Pro, to create, edit, analyze, and manage spatial data.
• Create, maintain, and manage GIS maps, layers, geodatabases and other related records.

• Perform CAD drafting and survey data processing.

• Conduct field visits for the purpose of spatial feature and attribute data collection and quality control.
• Work directly with engineers, architects, and surveyors to provide accurate maps and spatial feature data.
• Provide quality control for spatial data and map products.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant GIS and/or surveying experience.
• Experience using ArcGIS Pro and other GIS software.
• Experience with CAD drafting.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently, with good judgement and decision-making skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good time management and problem-solving skills.
• Highly reliable and dependable.
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain.
• Must be willing to travel and stay overnight when the job requires work away from the home office.
• Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must have a Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil3D, and Bentley MicroStation, is highly desirable.
• Land surveying experience is highly desirable.
• Large scale mapping and cartography experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, maps, and specifications.
• Experience with operating GNSS receivers for spatial feature location.
• Experience piloting drones (UAVs).
• Experience processing point cloud data.
