IT Director

Our IT Director will oversee all information technology-related services and staff, delegating responsibilities as needed. The position will create a strategic plan that aligns with the business mission and goals and ensures that information technology infrastructure and systems provide the most secure, accurate and current data to the organization to assist with decision-making, resource planning and daily operations. This position would be based either in Hillsborough or Raleigh office.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify the IT strategy and related solutions to support technology capabilities for Summit and work collaboratively to create and alter IT policies that align with the company's overall objectives
  • Assist in planning for both the organic growth of the IT department as well as cultivating 3rd-party vendor relationships to meet company business objectives
  • Facilitate IT vendor presentations with IT staff and the business
  • Oversee the maintenance of systems and services and ensure the company's data and IT systems are secure and protected again loss, attack or risks
  • Constantly monitor and report on the progress/risks of IT projects to stakeholders and implement risk-mitigation efforts
  • Evaluate and implement IT procedures and equipment for maximum efficiency and cost containment
  • Ensure users are provided professional, courteous, and timely service support
  • Structure, lead, train, and develop IT support for maximum effectiveness
  • Maintain a Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Develop/select and conduct user training on an as-needed basis
  • Maintain and grow knowledge by identifying and attending educational workshops that have an impact on job responsibilities; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; state-of-the-art benchmark practices; participating in professional societies
  • Manage the IT budget and monitor that IT projects and initiatives are completed within budget
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and user satisfaction by increasing IT's value through innovation and emerging technologies

Key Attributes:

  • Understanding of business goals and objectives and the need to deliver technology solutions to meet those goals
  • Ability to build, manage, and maintain a high-performance team
  • Ability to advocate technology requirements and effectively collaborate with key stakeholders towards mutual objectives meeting those requirements
  • Ability to make presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to collaborate with peers to achieve successful implementations of business goals and objectives
  • Interprets the needs of the business and provides appropriate technology and interprets the needs of the information technology department back to the business
  • Strategic planning
    • Creates and presents planning scenarios
    • Presents recommendations concisely and in a persuasive manner
    • Demonstrates implications and trade-offs across a three- to five-year horizon

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in information technology, with at least 5 years of experience in leadership
  • Certification(s) in IT management (examples: PMP ITIL PMI-ACP CAPM CRISC CISM)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, collaboration, and technical skills
  • Strong knowledge of IT security policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bentley, ArcGIS, Deltek and Microsoft 365 is preferred.
