Infrastructure Internship

 Summit Design and Engineering Services is a multi-disciplined civil engineering company and we are looking for a bright, talented intern to work with our Infrastructure Department in our Raleigh office. The Intern will work on projects involving roadway/highway design, hydraulic and hydrologic design, work zone traffic control, municipal streets and pedestrian facilities (greenways, multi-use trails). The Internship would last at least through August 15, 2017. We are looking for someone to work 30-40 hours per week. This is a paid internship.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications and material quantities
• Read and review project blueprints
• Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and ensure conformance to specifications
• Assist engineer by collecting and interpreting data, researching ideas, drafting and revising reports, processing complex functions and equations and creating cost estimates

Requirements:

• Actively seeking a degree in Civil Engineering
• Knowledge of NCDOT design standards and practices is preferred.
• Proficient using Microstation/GeoPak and Corridor Modeling, preferred
• Ability to process complex mathematical equations
• Ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of and ability to apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of civil engineering to projects
• Must be able to understand and follow written project specifications
• A strong work ethic and desire to learn and apply engineering training
• Organized and detail oriented
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on a team or individually
