Engineering Intern

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking an Engineering Intern for our Civil/Site Department in our Hillsborough, North Carolina office. 

Responsibilities:

• Analyzes and designs civil engineering land development components under direct supervision of the Project Manager.
• Provides design calculations, technical reports, permit applications and plan sets for storm drainage, sanitary sewer mains, stormwater control facilities, pressure networks, mass and fine grading, sediment and erosion control, and roadways.
• Ensures that all steps and procedures are followed throughout the local jurisdictional requirements.
• Works on multiple project tasks prioritizing responsibilities.
• Manages deadlines for on-time submittals to maintain the overall project's schedule.
• Enhances final plan sets with exceptional attention to details.
• Actively assists in the Quality Control throughout the project.
• Interface with clients as required including periodically project status.
• Inspires high level of performance from the team.
• Establishes and maintains client relationships.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Certification as an Engineering Intern or the ability to obtain one within one year.
• Knowledge of Civil3D and associated design and modeling software.
• Knowledge of Civil Engineering design requirements and principles.
• Effective constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Knowledge of Civil3D and associated design and modeling software.
• Driver's license required and ability to drive a company or personal vehicle.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior internship experience in Civil/Site or Land Development.
