Network Engineer

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking an experienced Network Engineer IT Department.  The position will report to the Director of IT and will initially be based at our headquarters in Hillsborough, NC, with flexibility of transitioning the position to one of our Raleigh locations. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and management of company's wired and wireless network infrastructure across all branches and office locations.
• Support remote access solutions (VPN, etc.) to ensure security and increase productivity.
• Provide Tier 2 support for hardware and software-based firewalls and other security solutions.
• Provide direct Tier 2 support to end users for any issues related to network infrastructure.
• Evaluate current network architecture and advise on potential improvements.
• Assist the Director of IT in developing a comprehensive BC/DR plan.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or Associate's Degree in related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of progressive, relevant work experience.
• Deep knowledge of Cisco/Meraki network hardware and software management tools.
• Strong familiarity with security best practices and firewall technology.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Detail oriented and meticulous.
• Ability to take direction and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Ability to travel, on occasion, to other office locations in North Carolina and Virginia.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior experience with SD-WAN solutions, Azure and cloud-based network management tools.
• Prior experience with WatchGuard firewalls.
• Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Bentley) and GIS software.
