PART-TIME PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking a Project Accountant to work out of our headquarters in Hillsborough, NC.  We are looking for a self-starter who is sharp, extremely accurate and a fast learner.  This is part-time, entry level position, but will grow into a full-time position. 

Initial responsibilities Include:

  • Setup of projects in Deltek for timesheet entry, revenue recognition, and billing requirements in accordance with contracts.
  • Update and run weekly backlog reports to review budgets, closeout status, and distribute to project managers.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed.

 As the position grows into a full-time position, the Project Accountant would be expected to:

  • Maintain billing and project folders with appropriate documentation including contracts, change orders, consultant contracts and invoices.
  • Monitor project progress and effectively communicate with project managers regarding contracts, invoicing, and project budgets.
  • Invoice projects monthly with associated paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Review and research any unbilled issues weekly.
  • Review time entered to projects to ensure classification and rates are in accordance with the contract.
  • Perform project closeout

 Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who are currently working on an associate's degree in accounting or has already acquired one. 
  • Knowledge of accounting software preferred. Any knowledge of Deltek helpful.
  • Extremely detail oriented. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Excellent written and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
