Proposal Engineer

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking an entry level Proposal Engineer to work as a Maintenance Management Engineer to assist with contract and proposal preparation for NCDOT and municipal maintenance needs.  This position will consist of assisting Project Managers with small roadway plan design, map preparation and contract proposal preparation, etc.  Primary focus will be on NCDOT and Local Municipality roadway maintenance operations.

 Responsibilities:

• Able to produce NCDOT formatted contract proposals for resurfacing and maintenance activities as needed for the Department
• Able to use MicroStation to produce roadway alignments for small road construction projects
• Understanding of NCDOT Special Provisions and guidelines
• Keep various project records/reports
• Assist with maintenance task contract prep and proposals

 Qualifications:

• Strong computer skills including, using an iPad and Microsoft Windows, MicroStation/AutoCAD, ESRI GIS, and the ability to learn new programs as necessary
• Detail orientated
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility with working in the office and field dependent on project needs.
• Ability to work in a team environment
