SPECIAL INSPECTOR

We are looking for a Special Inspector to work out of our Indian Trail, NC lab.  

Responsibilities:

• Accurately perform inspections on soil, concrete, steel, masonry, deep foundations, exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS), and fireproofing for various industrial, commercial, residential or municipality projects in accordance with applicable standards.
• Read design drawings and construction specifications
• Observe work procedures and verifies compliance with job specifications
• Create accurate and detail reports of inspections
• Interact with construction site supervisors, architects, structural engineers, and client representatives

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-5 years of experience performing Special Inspections
• Working knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry and ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments
•  Proficient in the use of IPads, Microsoft Office, email and Internet
•  Ability to work independently, use own judgment and make decisions
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Must have one or more of the following certifications: 

•  ICC Reinforced & Pre-stressed Concrete
•  ICC Structural Steel & Masonry
•  ICC Soils
•  ICC Structural Steel Welding
•  ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing
•  Seismic Resistance
•  Cold Formed Steel
•  ASNT II UT,MT,PT,VT Non-Destructive Testing
•  AWS CWI Welding

Candidates will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including hazards at highway construction sites.  Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.  Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights. 

Must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.   Criminal background check will be performed.
