Safety Manager

We are seeking a Safety Manager who will be responsible for enforcing our safety policy and any federal, state and local standards.  The Safety Manager is also responsible for conducting employee safety training, safety audits and incident investigations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in area of safety as well as industry standards and accepted practices
  • Develop project and site specific safety plans
  • Conduct site/project and office inspections, identifying hazardous conditions and overseeing their correction
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies to prevent incidents and accidents
  • Develop, deliver or coordinate safety related training for all personnel, including new hire safety orientation
  • Manage safety training records, identify and purchased PPE and manage and track all associated resources
  • Oversee all accident investigations, develop findings and deliver recommendations of corrective action
  • Represent company as point of contact during any governmental inspections or investigations
  • Monitor and communicate developments in federal, state and industry rules and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a Safety & Health related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in the construction safety field, preferably in on roadway, bridge or heavy civil or commercial construction projects
  • Extensive knowledge of government, industry and other regulations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the safety of our work
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • 30 Hour OSHA Construction Safety Course Completed.
  • Proficient in MS Office Computer Applications (Word, Power Point, Excel)
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Candidates will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including hazards and loud noises at job sites. 
  • Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain.  
  • May need to go up/down ladders or elevated structures
  • Must be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on occasion.
