Senior Architect

Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC, has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Senior Architect to develop and expand relationships with new clients with the primary objective of market growth for the Richmond, VA office.  We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and who can generate new business for Summit.

Requirements:

• Create and implement strategic plans to generate business opportunities, which result in achieved revenue objectives for the Virginia region.
• Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, conferences and presentations.
• Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events. Develop strategies for involvement in professional societies or organizations.
• Develop design drawings, such as plans, sections, elevations and models using Revit.
• Manage project development from pre-design through completion, meeting with clients and consultants, providing insight and assistance, and reviewing and approving consultant contract requests for payment, amendments, extensions of schedule, and contract closeout.
• Confer with clients, engineers, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
• Coordination of project design and project team.
• Prepare and review Addenda, Bulletins, Change Orders, Field Observation Reports, Applications for Payments, Construction Documents, Shop Drawings, and materials for compliance with design intent and requirements.
• Attend regular meetings with clients, contractors, and specialists, and make regular site visits to check on progress.
• Assist in creation of contract documents.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
• Registered Architect in Virginia,
• Minimum tens years of experience.
• Must have construction knowledge and be able to coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction managers as well as other consultants and clients. 
• Understanding of drawing conventions, file organization, external references and technical accuracy
• Experience with affordable housing architecture. 
• Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max and Google Sketch-Up.
• Demonstrated knowledge of architectural design, detailing, building materials, building codes, construction techniques, and costs.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge of general architectural practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
• Ability to develop solutions to technical challenges.
• Highly motivated with a commitment to design excellence.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as on teams.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Ability to travel as needed.
