Senior Geotechnical Project Manager

Summit Design and Engineering Services, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking a full-time Senior Geotechnical Project Manager.  The successful candidate will function as the lead Project Manager/Project Engineer on a wide variety of challenging and diverse projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the preparation of fee budgets, proposals and resource requirements for projects; and the technical execution from assignment and compilation of laboratory testing to geotechnical analysis and preparation geotechnical reports and letters. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for running projects, managing billings, managing performance and interacting with other discipline leads within Summit.

This position can be based in our Raleigh, Hillsborough, or Indian Trail office.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate effectively with individuals and organizations internally and within the project team.
• Maintain existing, as well as develop new geotechnical business opportunities in North Carolina and adjoining states.
• Assist Business Development Manager with marketing and business development activities as needed.
• Work with other Senior Project Managers and/or Department Manager in the assignment of staff suited to meet project needs.
• Mentor and facilitate the development of the staff within the office in support of the Department Manager and corporate goals. 
• Collaborate with Department Manager to develop scope of work and man-hour estimates, project planning, progress reports, invoicing and responses to SOQs, RFPs and LOIs as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering registration in North Carolina.
• Familiarity with NCDOT practices, policies and procedures, including the GEU's Guidelines and Procedure Manual.
• Proven success in managing client relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Ability to empower, delegate and collaborate effectively.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of seven years of geotechnical engineering experience in the state of North Carolina.
