Summit Design and Engineering Services is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Construction Engineering Inspection Department within the Tampa, Tallahassee, Orlando, Fort Meyers, Miami, Jacksonville areas and throughout Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection projects.
  • Full technical responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications, as well as organizing, executing, and coordinating construction engineering and inspection assignments.
  • Review programs for conformance with client standards
  • Responsible for monitoring construction schedules and assigning staff to determine that the contractor's activities are inspected and tested in accordance with contract documents.
  • Act as an on-site liaison and cultivate team building between the client, company personnel and the contractor.
  • Brief the client on project issues and provide solutions.
  • Writing or supervising the preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Participate in client, contractor, and other meetings.
  • Identify and pursue future work pursuits or opportunities. Also, responsible for developing and maintaining an excellent professional relationship with those organizations to facilitate both the successful completion of current ongoing projects and the successful pursuit of follow-on assignments

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and six years of engineering experience with two years of which are in major road or bridge construction. A Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year engineering experience. 
  • State of Florida Professional Engineer license required.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Leading construction/engineering staff and implementing change management.
  • Proficient task and time management.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience.
  • Effective collaboration skills.
  • Proactive and innovative problem resolution skills.
  • Proficient in the use of iPad and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion. 
  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on occasion.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Valid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive.

Certifications (Required):

To be considered for this position you must have all certifications listed below.

  • CTQP Quality Control Manager Certification
  • FDOT Advanced MOT
