Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager

We are seeking a qualified problem-solver with a technical background to lead and assist in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of infrastructure and natural systems. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will work in our Water Resources Department in our Raleigh office and will be responsible for modeling of infrastructure and closed drainage systems, as well as of streams and watersheds. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will work collaboratively with less-experienced Water Resources staff and our Transportation Design Department staff on projects involving hydrologic and hydraulic engineering for municipal stormwater, roadway/highway, bridge/culvert, municipal street, pedestrian (greenways, multi-use trails), and flood mitigation projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field
• PE required
• 7+ years of progressive hydrologic and hydraulic engineering experience required
• Experience with various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software
• Significant Experience with GIS, Microstation, Open Roads Designer, or Civil3D
• Strong engineering judgment, proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• MS in Civil Engineering or related field
• 2D rain-on-grid experience
• 2D hydraulic modeling experience
• Municipal stormwater system modeling experience
• Project Management experience
• Experience in flood mitigation studies
• DOT (any state) design experience
• Interaction with clients and public agencies will be required periodically
• Local candidates preferred
