We are seeking a Structural Designer/Technician II to support our Structural Engineering Department. The candidate chosen for this position will provide support to engineers by preparing structural layouts, detail drawings, sketches and diagrams. This position may be based in Raleigh or Wilmington, NC or Fort Mill, SC.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Revit to develop designs.
  • Produce commercial, institutional and industrial building structural layouts, Construction Drawings and details
  • Generate and modify 3D REVIT/BIM models
  • Generate and maintain a standard detail library for the department
  • Spearhead development and maintenance of department drafting standards and CAD system settings
  • Assist engineers with field investigations, on occasion

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Proficiency with REVIT software and Building Structural Engineering AutoCAD
  • Experience in creating framing plans, foundation plans and structural details for steel, masonry, concrete and timber-framed structures
  • Ability to work from conceptual sketches, marked-up drawings and verbal instructions to produce working drawings that are accurate and conform to project specifications and drafting standards
  • Ability to create/edit/maintain drawing templates and detail libraries
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to complete mathematical calculations.
  • Problem solving and analysis
  • Experience in field measurement, and independently drafting existing layouts based on field investigation
  • Experience in building construction field inspection is a plus
  • Ability to drive, visit job sites and walk on rough and uneven terrain and climb and balance (on a ladder) as needed
