Survey Department Manager

We are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic survey professional to lead our field and office survey personnel and complement our staff of design professionals. The position will be based in either our Raleigh or Hillsborough office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate all aspects of survey work for our multiple survey crews and office staff, including working with our design professionals and project managers to schedule field and office work
• Provide technical assistance to design staff
• Prepare plans, calculations, costs estimates and proposals
• Provide input on new technology
• Maintain and develop standards to increase productivity and efficiency
• Recruit, hire, manage, mentor and retain staff necessary to maintain and/or improve the survey unit's ability to produce a quality work product
• Market survey and scanner services, assist in Business Development and new work procurement
• Maintain and develop client relationships
• Ensure quality of all survey work

• Responsible for safety coordination of survey department

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of survey experience, including prior supervisory/management experience
• PLS licensure in NC
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including proficiency with MS Office
• Proven performance with quality control/quality assurance for ensuring accuracy in boundary determination, legal descriptions, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, record maps, construction staking, etc.
• Experience working with NCDOT Location and Surveys Unit preferred
• Strong business development skills and ability to handle tight deadlines for a busy multi-disciplinary firm
• Knowledge of current technology including Trimble GPS equipment, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
• Experience with Leica ScanStation HD 3D Laser Scanner preferred.
