TRANSPORTATION / TRAFFIC PROJECT ENGINEER
Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC is seeking a qualified individual to lead and assist in the development of transportation management designs and plans. The position will work within the Transportation Design Group of our Infrastructure Engineering Branch in our Raleigh or Hillsborough offices. Projects will primarily involve NCDOT roadway/highway projects, but also may involve municipal streets and pedestrian facilities (greenways, multi-use trails). Thorough knowledge of NCDOT transportation management design standards, MUTCD protocols and requirements, and experience in general project development work flow are required for the position.
Candidates should have a BSCE or BSCET degree with a minimum 10 years of progressive design experience in all aspects of transportation design. Advanced knowledge of and experience in transportation management design, complex project phasing, sign design, and associated traffic analysis are required. Familiarity with Microstation, Geopack and Corridor Modeling is preferred. PE license is required; NCDOT and VDOT design experience is preferred. Individuals should be self-motivated and experienced in managing and organizing multiple tasks and related disciplines. Survey experience and data management is a plus. Management and training of lower level support staff is regularly required. Position requires strong engineering analysis and judgment, proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills. Interaction with clients and public agencies will be required; participation in public meetings and presentations will be required regularly.
