Transportation Design Technician

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Transportation Design Technician to become part of our Transportation Infrastructure Department located in Raleigh. The Design Technician will work on projects involving roadway/highway design, municipal streets and pedestrian facilities (greenways, multi-use trails).

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Read and review project blueprints and CADD files
• Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and ensure conformance to specifications
• Calculate dimensions, square footage, earthwork and material quantities and evaluate component specifications
• Assist engineer by collecting and interpreting data, researching ideas, drafting and revising reports, processing complex functions and equations and creating cost estimates

Qualifications:

• AAS in Engineering or 2-3 years progressive engineering design experience
• Experience with NCDOT design standards and practices is preferred.
• Proficient with Microstation/GeoPak
• Proficient with Corridor Modeling
• Ability to process complex mathematical equations
• Ability to read blueprints
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on a team or individually
