Water Resources Engineer
We are seeking a problem-solver with a technical background to perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of infrastructure and natural systems. The Water Resources Engineer will work in our Water Resources Department in our Raleigh office and will be responsible for modeling of infrastructure and closed drainage systems, as well as of streams and watersheds. The Water Resources Engineer will work collaboratively with more-experienced Water Resources staff and our Transportation Design Department staff on projects involving hydrologic and hydraulic engineering for municipal stormwater, roadway/highway, bridge/culvert, municipal street, pedestrian (greenways, multi-use trails), flood mitigation projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- EI required, PE preferred
- 3+ years of progressive hydrologic and hydraulic engineering experience required
- Experience with various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software
- Experience with GIS, Microstation, Open Roads Designer, or Civil3D
- Willingness to learn, proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with HEC-RAS 1D or 2D modeling
- Drainage design and Erosion Control design experience
- Municipal stormwater system modeling experience
- DOT (any state) design experience
- Local candidates preferred
